Our Elementary Faith Formation volunteers are the life of our program. They help our families by providing them a strong faith foundation. We have multiple opportunities for volunteers, ranging from hall monitors to lead catechists.
What's the time commitment to be a catechist?- Once a week to teach a class
- Monday: 4:30-5:30 pm or Monday, 6:00 - 7:00 pm
- Tuesday: 4:30-5:30 pm
- Wednesday: 4:30-5:30 pm
- Weekly lesson planning (1-2 hours)
- Attend trainings, retreats and socials for our catechists

Elementary Faith Formation Lead Aide
Elementary Faith Formation Lead Catechist
Elementary Faith Formation Lead Catechists work with a team of 1-2 aides who teach in our parish’s Elementary (K-5) Faith Formation program. A Lead Catechist is a person of faith who possesses a love for God, a love for children, and a love for parents. A Lead Catechist participates in our training and weekly develops a lesson plan. By creating the lesson plan the Lead Catechist ultimately designs and structures experiences for students and their families, helping them grow in their faith and spirituality.
Aides are on a team with other aides and a Lead Catechist who serve every week. Aides assist the Elementary Faith Formation Catechist with the session’s activities, materials, handouts, and discussions. They help with hospitality, welcoming students, and their parents, ensuring everyone follows the Elementary Faith Formation program guidelines, and returning children to their parents at the end of the session.
Elementary Faith Formation Director Aide
Director Aides assist the Director of Elementary Faith Formation during the classes at Holy Family Catholic School. Director Aides serve as hall monitors, ensuring that once elementary Faith Formation classes begin our students are settled in the classroom. Director Aides may assist Lead Catechists or the Director with local "field" trips to the Church or other parish settings. Aides also ensure that the Holy Family restrooms are empty before a student visits.
Special Needs Religious Education (SPRE) Catechist
Do you enjoy working with children with special needs or know someone who does? The lead catechist for SPRE works with a small handful of children with various special needs using the award-winning curriculum and materials from Loyola Press.

First Communion Catechist
Our First Communion preparation consist of six parish-held yet parent-led sessions. The First Communion Catechist prepares for the session with the Director, leads part of the session, and assists parents while they teach their children.
First Communion Aide
The First Communion Aide assists the Director and First Communion Catechist during the First Communion session by ensuring all materials for the session are distributed, welcoming parents during sign-in, and assisting the First Communion Catechst and Director during the session.
First Communion Musician
Our First Communion Musician leads our sessions with one or two gathering songs with guitar.
