Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Communion normally takes place in the 1st and 2nd grade for children baptized in the Catholic Faith. Essential for the preparation of First Communion is regular worship at Sunday Mass, participation in religious education classes ( either in the parish or in a Catholic school), participation in the in-person sacrament preparation sessions and at home completion of sacrament preparation session materials. Diocesan policy requires that students are at the age of reason (7 years old) and have two consecutive years of preparation prior to receiving First Eucharist. If your child is enrolling for the 2nd year of sacrament preparation and attended religious education in another
parish or Catholic school ( other than Holy Family Catholic School) last year, you will need to submit a letter from your previous parish/school to confirm attendance.
