Training Missionary Disciples for Ministry
Through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, all have become disciples of Jesus Christ and are called to make known God the Father’s love and mercy. The Diocese of Austin has partnered with the Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University to allow the formation of catechists and ministry leaders in the parish. Over ten weeks this fall, join together to study part one of Foundations of Missionary Disciples. This includes four components:
1) The Universal Call to Holiness;
2) Jesus: The Christocentricity of Catechesis;
3) The Kerygma: Delivering the Gospel Proclamation; and
4) Prayer: Introduction to the Spiritual Life of the Catechist.
Before you say, “Wait, I’m not a catechist!” Catechesis is the name given to the Church’s efforts to make disciples and help others believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We are all catechists, some of us formally and others more informally.
Who is this for? Parents, Grandparents, catechists, ministry leaders, youth ministers, Catholic School teachers, pastoral ministers, evangelizers, and those who want to grow in their faith and ability to hand it on to others.
When will we meet? Thursday, Sept 5 through Nov 21, 6:30—8:00 pm.
Where will we meet? In the PAC.What is the cost? There is no fee. Donations are welcome to offset the cost of copies.
