Parents bear the primary responsibility of the faith formation of their children and introducing them to the prayer, liturgical, sacramental, and service aspects of being and active Catholic. As such, parents must be willing to commit to actively accompany their children in their familiy's journey of faith.
Children Younger than age 7: If you are ready to begin the process as a parent or godparent, please fill out the Inquiry Form for the baptismal preparation classes for parents of children younger than 7 years by registering here. This will allow you to register for the Baptismal Preparation Classes which consists of two sessions. You will receive a follow-up email or phone call. If you have participated in baptism preparation for a previous child, you will not need to attend another class.
The following paperwork will also be required before the baptism is scheduled.
The Diocese of Austin requires parent(s) seeking Baptism for their child to have received 3 hours of faith formation on the Rite of Baptism within the last three years.
Children age 7 and older: To have your older child baptized parents must be willing to make a commitment to walk with their children in their Catholic faith journey in the adapted catechumenal process.
