Meet Dr. John Osman, Ph.D., who will be serving as our Director of Catechesis and Evangelization. John specializes in these two areas with a special emphasis on inculturation and communication within the digital culture. He has worked on the parish and diocesan levels to create programs such as a 10-month training for the catechesis of adults, “Theology-on-Tap,” and various parish online retreats. John has taught graduate courses in the history and theory of catechesis and liturgical catechesis, and presented at various diocesan, state, and regional religious education conferences to hundreds of catechetical leaders on the topic of pastoral ministry in a digital age. His degrees include a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla; M.A. in Theology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX; and a Ph.D. in Catechetics from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
John and his wife, Helen, have been married for thirty-four years. After raising their children in Austin, they spent the last eight years in D.C. and have recently returned to the area. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
