Lector Ministry at St. Vincent de Paul

Called are all of us - to give of our gifts, time or talents - and for those who enjoy speaking before others, examining the words of the Lord, or simply the sharing of stories, the Lector Ministry at St. Vincent de Paul parish may be the opportunity you have been looking for.

At St. Vincent de Paul, we assign two lectors to each Mass, each Sunday. All lectors have a copy of the Workbook for Lectors and Gospel Readers with which they prepare for proclaiming their assigned readings. We provide guidelines for the mechanics of preparing for and "doing" the readings, communicate about our ministry in a newsletter, and try to have at least one annual training session for all lectors.

Lectors are asked to prepare for their readings in a prayerful way. This is the only real qualification needed. We can work on the "nuts and bolts" with anyone who feels called to help share the stories of our faith with our parish community of St. Vincent de Paul.

Look in the bulletin for upcoming announcements about a Lector Ministry mini-retreat/training.
