Holy Week Special Instructions for All Lectors

Palm Sunday 4:30pm, 9am, 11am

Only the 1st and 2nd reading lectors process in and out (as usual). Make sure the Lectionary is at the ambo before the service begins. All should sit close to the ambo or choir area. The first and second readings are "regular" and are in the Lector Workbook. The Passion is also in the Lector Workbook, and/or a copy can be printed off the Lector website. For the Passion, the first reader/speaker will stand at the ambo and the other readers/speakers will use the added microphones. Each lector reading the Passion will have a notebook in the Sacristy (room where altar servers dress). Put them on the stand (or in ambo-reader 1) prior to Mass.

The Triduum -- Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday

Holy Thursday 7:00pm

The presentation of the chrism oils will be done before Mass begins. A copy of what is to be read for the presentation can be found on the WEB on the Lector page under "Readings". When mass begins, both lectors process in, but do not process out at the end of Mass. Make sure the Lectionary is at the ambo before Mass begins. Use the Lectionary for both readings. The readings can also be found in the Lector Workbook.

Good Friday 7:00pm

There is no procession in or out. All should sit close to the ambo or choir area. Make sure the Lectionary is at the ambo before the service begins.

Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil) 8:30pm

Lectors do not process in or out. Make sure the Lectionary is at the ambo. All readings will be read from the Lectionary at the ambo. The readings are also in the Lector Workbook for practice. The lights will be dimmed or off during the 7 readings. You will read "by candlelight". After each reading, Fr. Danny will say a short prayer so don't start the reading until Fr. Danny has finished.

If you are unable to read at the service(s) for which you are scheduled, please switch with another lector ASAP and ensure the Holy week signup webpage has been updated. Copies of Chism Oils, and Palm Sunday and Good Friday gospel readings are on the Lector website under "Readings".

Proclaim our Lord's stories. Don't go too fast. Speak clearly and loudly.
